Scott & Maggie Modrall

Maggie and I began working cross-culturally several years ago. After some short-term trips overseas, we joined an organization called One Challenge, and lived in South Africa for six years. We equipped leaders in various capacities and helped caregivers who served in an informal settlement near Johannesburg. We loved our time in South Africa, but during the summer of 2018 the Lord called us back to the Portland, Oregon area where we were originally from.

Now, we continue to serve cross-culturally in new ways, helping immigrants and refugees adjust to a new life filled with opportunities for them, as well as opportunities for the gospel.

We also help mobilize churches and organizations in the Portland area and beyond with the Kairos Course. Kairos is an interactive, impacting Biblical worldview course designed to align God’s people with God’s heart for the nations, both abroad and at our own doorstep.

As faith missionaries, we would love for you to prayerfully consider supporting our ministry in prayer and finances. Please email us below to ask any questions. For online giving, please follow this link to  One Challenge which processes our support account #110289. Donate

If you have any questions about the Kairos Course, please do not hesitate to ask us. Thanks!

The Kim family

The Kims (not their real name) have a sensitive ministry among internationals in the USA. They spend a lot of time building trust with those who have come temporarily to America from Asia and the Middle East. They frequently open their home to welcome visitors to our country. Pray that God would use them to represent Jesus faithfully.

Lynn & Karen McAdam

Hello there! I (Lynn McAdam) have served in a church consulting and leadership development role with OC International throughout Germany and Austria since 1985. A broad sample of my teaching and writing materials  is available (in German) at www.kompass-ev.net.  I am also an enthusiastic sportsman and athletic coach, and am always looking for ways to combine sport and faith.  I submitted my doctoral thesis to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2013, researching and writing on “The Feasibility of Partnerships between Local German Churches and Sport Clubs for Evangelism and Discipleship.”

Karen:  Over the past decade I (Karen) have assumed increasing responsibilities in serving on the boards of Black Forest Academy, Teach Beyond Germany and Teach Beyond Global. I am an educator at heart with experience in the secondary school classroom both in the United States and in Germany.

We have  five children scattered from Germany and Norway to San Diego. In 2013 we transitioned back to the USA, assuming elder care for our aging parents.  We expect to divide our time and ministry involvement between the U.S. and Europe for the foreseeable future.

We depend on God to supply our financial needs and ministry costs.  Click here to join our support team through our support account with One Challenge.

A caring family

In recent years we have had the privilege of making friends with several immigrant families who have come to our city in Washington, where we live. It has been a great joy to open our home, and to visit in their homes as well.

We have such a passion for building these kinds of relationships that we are excited about our transition from the working world into full-time service with Near Frontiers.

Our children  are very much a part of our ministry. They enjoy meeting many different kinds of people, and have made many friends their own age. We have been blessed to have good fellowship with believers from several churches  who share our passion for the nations.

As staff with Near Frontiers, we are supported by gifts from friends. If God leads you, we would greatly appreciate your prayers and financial support.  Donate

Byron & Robyn Siemsen

We have recently joined Near Frontiers out of a desire to reach out in friendship to international students here in the USA. Currently we are living and ministering in Eugene, Oregon. We previously served for several years in urban Los Angeles.

For this transitional year we are blessed to be staying at Camp Harlow in Eugene. Our children, Derek and Melanie, are enjoying the chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

I (Byron) was raised in a missionary family in Papua New Guinea, so missions has been a part of my life. I am blessed to be serving God in missions today. I am completing a Master’s degree at Talbot Seminary.

As for me (Robyn) I felt God calling me to join His mission as a young girl. I knew I wanted to marry a man who shared my passion for mission, so I was so glad to meet Byron when we were students at Biola University.

PARTNER FINANCIALLY:  We are actively seeking new ministry partners, so we would appreciate your support. Donate

Mehari & Naz Korcho

Mehari is an immigrant from Ethiopia now serving God in the U.S. with One Challenge International. Mehari and Naz married in 2020. The focus of their ministry is to mobilize and equip diaspora churches in America so that they can increase their engagement in the mission of God beyond their own community. Because of this focus, One Challenge has placed them with their affiliate, Near Frontiers.

The Korchos believe that there is a potential among diaspora churches to be maximized for God’s mission, even at a global scale. For instance, in America, there are over 140 Ethiopian diaspora churches that can be used as a “harvest force” in the kingdom work. In this diaspora ministry, their passion is to see all diaspora churches working together with local American churches to revitalize Christianity in the States, and reach out to immigrants and local Americans.

Their ministry includes:
• Creating awareness about diaspora missiology and promoting unity among local American and diaspora churches through mission conferences
• Recruiting and training potential church leaders for church plantation and multiplication
• Researching the practical needs and connecting kingdom workers with the work
• Reaching out to refugees and different immigrants around Colorado
• Promoting biblical foundation of missions

Theme verse – “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matt 9:37-38)

Bob & Aimee Rasmussen

Following eight years as a pastor, Bob went with his family to Kenya in 1990. We were privileged to provide Biblical training for rural pastors in East Africa. In 2000 we returned to the States to continue mission work among the nations.

We are passionate about mobilizing the body of Christ to partner together in reaching the nations with the love of Christ. Bob loves speaking and training about mission, cultural competency, and intercultural unity. Aimee is gifted in counseling and training in member care matters.

I was asked to start Near Frontiers in 2005 in Seattle. My dear wife Lyn went to be with Christ in 2015.  I moved to central California where I met and married Aimee. We now serve the Lord together. I am privileged to serve as Executive Director. I graduated from Biola University and Dallas Seminary (ThM).  I have been privileged to write. You may enjoy my book, The Amazing Potential of One Surrendered Church, available on Amazon. I enjoy playing the trumpet (which I began in the 5th grade) and kayaking.
